As part of the Qatar National Vision 2030, dedicated to creating sustainable development and providing a higher standard of living for its citizens, this $7-billion project is creating the world’s largest ‘greenfield’ port.

Hamad Port is Qatar's main seaport, covering 29 square kilometres, with the yearly capacity for 7 million tones of general freight and 1 million tones of grain, including a specialist terminal supporting the entry of around 500,000 vehicles per year.

Wide Sky worked with Cosmic Carrot on the visitor experience centre, creating cutting edge digital interventions in Arabic and English that enable investors, the public, and school groups to engage with the past, present, and future of this national project.

Immersive Digital Interventions

Experiences combine touch screens, physical interfaces, and simulators, with large-scale LED and multi-screen walls, projection, lighting, and audio delivery systems, integrated within bespoke built structures, to connect visitors to key themes and immerse them in content.

Site-wide Delivery

Digital interactives include a 5m long seven-screen interactive table enabling up to 30 visitors to simultaneously explore how the port was built; a 5m wide ‘Numbers’ wall showcasing live port data and shipping flows; a sliding screen cargo quest game for children exploring the diversity of goods passing through the port; a site wide real time 3D way finding system, and programmable welcome screens for visitors and VIP guests.

Cutting Edge Audiovisual

A 10x10m touch screen driven showcase incorporating laser systems and a 10m wide LED wall highlights, locates, and explores the many functions of the mega port; virtual reality interactive simulators housed in themed setworks enable visitors to steer a ship into port and unload its shipping containers, and fully updatable digital interpretation across Qatar’s first ‘underground’ aquarium explores the country’s diverse eco systems.
“Very well done and definitely worth the trip out for. Ground floor is an exhibition on the history/ building of Hamad Port... again well done and interesting history and appreciation of the scale of the port and its construction.”
